Elton John adds East Coast shows
Elton John continues to spread the love and the rock and roll to secondary markets across North America as he adds more concerts in between his "Red Piano" dates in Las Vegas.
Since last check, the superstar has squeezed in five more shows next month: three in Florida, one in Newark, DE, and another in Savannah, GA. The 11 non-Vegas dates on John's itinerary are a mix of solo and band performances. Details about which type of show will visit each city are available at his website. Tickets for the latest slate of gigs go on sale beginning Friday (2/15).
The Rocket Man's "Red Piano" residency in Sin City resumes March 19 and runs through April 12, then picks up again in June. He'll follow that with a two-week European tour that launches in late June. John also has plans to take his Las Vegas set across the Atlantic in December for a Red Piano concert in Paris. His North American itinerary is included below and overseas dates are listed at his website.
The Grammy-winning singer signed on to keep his "Red Piano" show in Vegas through this year. He's put in about 50 annual performances at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace since 2004.
"The Red Piano" was created by John and photographer David LaChapelle to spotlight the performer's body of work with his longtime collaborator, Bernie Taupin. John and Taupin teamed once again in 2006 for the album "The Captain & The Kid," which is billed as a sequel to 1975's "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy."
Last March saw the release of "Rocket Man - Number Ones," which comprises 18 hits covering the first 35 years of John's career. The album accompanied the star's 60th birthday celebration, which he marked with a record-breaking 60th performance at New York City's Madison Square Garden.
That March 25 show is captured on the two-disc DVD set "Elton John 60: Live at Madison Square Garden," which also includes rare and previously unseen performances as well as a 36-page booklet of photographs.
