Britney Spears' mom claims manager drugged pop star

Lynne Spears, mother of embattled pop icon Britney Spears , on Friday (2/1) obtained a restraining order against Britney's manager, Osama "Sam" Lutfi, whom Lynne Spears claims had taken control of her daughter's life by drugging the pop princess and cutting her off from the outside world.

In paperwork she filed last week, Lynne Spears claimed under penalty of perjury that Lutfi had been administering numerous mood-altering pills to Britney, had cut the phone lines connected to Britney's house, had disposed of Britney's cell phone chargers (and was using a car battery he kept in the house to charge his own cell phone), and had been verbally abusing Britney.

The six-page declaration, which Lynne Spears filed last Thursday (1/31), contained numerous other accusations against Lutfi, including an exchange during which Lutfi allegedly said to her: "You'd better learn that I control everything. I control Howard Grossman, Britney's business manager. I control her attorneys and the security guards at the gate. They don't listen to Britney, they listen to me."

A Los Angeles court commissioner granted the elder Spears' request for a temporary restraining order that requires Lutfi to stay away from Britney, who is currently confined to a psychiatric ward at UCLA Medical Center.

Last week, Britney's psychiatrist and parents joined forces to have the singer committed to the psychiatric ward for an evaluation. Originally due to be held for 72 hours, Spears was subsequently instructed to remain at the facility for an additional 14 days.

Also last week, a court commissioner placed Spears' father, James Spears, in control of Britney's medical care, and also gave him control of her personal and financial affairs.
