Avril Lavigne adds more North American shows

Avril Lavigne 's North American tour continues to grow ahead of its March launch.

The trek, which kicks off March 5 in Victoria, British Columbia, is set to stop by arenas all over the US and Canada into May. It marks Lavigne's first outing to support last April's "Best Damn Thing."

Since last check, dates have been added in Kingston, Ontario; Tampa and West Palm Beach, FL; Woodlands, TX; San Jose, CA; Atlanta; and Seattle. Special guests Boys Like Girls will support. Details are listed below.

Lavigne also recently announced an extensive European jaunt beginning in late May. Those dates can be found at her website.

The Canadian-born punk-pop princess has assembled a new band for the world tour, and she'll include choreographed dancing for the first time, according to a statement.

"Best Damn Thing," Lavigne's third album, topped the US album chart and has reached platinum status on the strength of hit singles including "Girlfriend," "Keep Holding On," "Hot" and "When You're Gone." The set marks a departure from the darker, more introspective tone of 2004's multi-platinum-selling "Under My Skin," which spawned the hits "Don't Tell Me" and "Happy Ending."

Lavigne's white-hot debut, "Let Go," was released in 2002 when she was 17. That album snagged eight Grammy nominations and won four Juno Awards (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammys). The singer/songwriter has since sold nearly 30 million albums worldwide, according to a press release.
