Buddy Guy 'Can't Quit the Blues' in '08
Blues-rock legend Buddy Guy will continue his tireless work schedule into 2008, with concert dates across the globe booked into spring.
The 71-year-old performer will kick things off with a late-February four-night stand at his own Chicago nightclub, Buddy Guy's Legends. In mid-March, he'll head down under for a week-long tour of Australia and New Zealand, and then resume North American dates through mid-April. The trek includes several shows in Ontario and Texas, plus stops in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio and Florida. Those dates are listed below and overseas gigs can be found at Guy's website.
The five-time Grammy winner burned up the road in 2007, completing an extensive North American outing and traveling to far-off places including Spain, Singapore and India.
Guy, who is considered a major influence on rock gods including Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, released his first career-spanning box set, "Can't Quit the Blues," in late 2006. The collection comprises three CDs covering the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's 50-year career, including six previously unreleased tracks. It also features a DVD documentary and a 40-page book with rare photos.
Guy's most recent studio set, 2005's "Bring 'Em In," has him interpreting a collection of classics with guest stars including Carlos Santana, John Mayer, Tracy Chapman, Robert Randolph and Keith Richards.
