Honda Civic Tour dates, lineup unveiled
Organizers have rolled out a schedule that launches April 10 in San Francisco and loops around the country before wrapping up back on the West Coast in mid-June. Stops are confirmed in about 40 cities; details are shown below.
In addition to Panic at the Disco, the tour will also feature Motion City Soundtrack , The Hush Sound and Phantom Planet .
Panic at the Disco band member Ryan Ross explained in a press release that the upcoming run technically isn't the group's first experience with the Honda Civic Tour.
"Last year we actually did a spur-of-the-moment acoustic set at the Vegas date of the Civic Tour," Ross said. "So it's awesome to be playing every show this year."
In conjunction with the tour, Panic at the Disco customized a Honda Civic Hybrid, which will be on display at each tour stop, and which one fan will win after the tour ends. Starting next month, fans can enter to win the car via the Honda Civic Tour's website, according to organizers.
The site also features details about a ticket pre-sale that gets underway Jan. 30.
The Honda Civic tour began in 2001 with Blink-182 at the helm. Last year's event, featuring headliners Fall Out Boy, focused on the Honda Civic Hybrid and promoted green technologies and environmental consciousness.
In keeping with that theme, one dollar from every ticket purchased for this year's tour will go into a fund designated by non-profit organizations and tour partners Reverb and Global Inheritance.
Panic at the Disco has set a March 25 release date for its next studio album, "Pretty. Odd.," which follows the band's 2005 debut, "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out." The group recorded the new set at Las Vegas' Studio at the Palms with producer Rob Mathes. A press release describes the band's sound on the forthcoming set as "embracing a melodic, classic rock-inspired aesthetic while still maintaining the visionary pop modernism that made its debut among the new millennium's most popular and successful releases."
The album's first single, "Nine in the Afternoon," will hit radio stations this month, and will go on sale digitally Jan. 29.
