Alan Jackson looks forward to 'Good Time'
Alan Jackson will preview material from his forthcoming album, "Good Time," when he heads out next month for a slate of North American dates.
The country star is set to kick things off Feb. 2 with afternoon and evening performances at the Livestock and Rodeo Show in San Antonio, TX. From there, he'll visit a handful of arenas and festivals across the US and then join Brooks & Dunn for a run of April concerts in Canada. Details are listed below.
Jackson's 17th album, "Good Time" is scheduled to drop March 4. The set's lead single, "Small Town Southern Man," has already made an impact at radio, currently holding the No. 11 spot on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart after 10 weeks.
After releasing two chart-topping albums in 2006 (the award-winning inspirational collection "Precious Memories" and the Grammy-nominated "Like Red on a Rose"), "Good Time" returns Jackson to his role as songwriter. In fact, the set is the first album Jackson has written in its entirety.
The singer has certainly had success in the past with his own compositions, taking songwriting credit for 21 of his 31 No. 1 singles, according to a press release.
"Good Time" also reunites Jackson with longtime collaborator Keith Stegall, who produced or co-produced all but one of the superstar's previous albums.
Jackson also appears on last spring's "Live at Texas Stadium" with George Strait and Jimmy Buffett, as well as the forthcoming compilation "How Great Thou Art: Gospel Favorites Live from the Grand Ole Opry," which is due Feb. 5.
The three-time Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year is currently nominated for a Grammy in the "Best Male Country Vocal Performance" category for his single "A Woman's Love," off of the Alison Krauss-produced "Like Red on a Rose."
Jackson, who is often referred to as a standard-bearer of traditional country, has sold more than 45 million records since 1989 and won upwards of 95 industry awards, according to his bio.
