Neko Case previews new material on the road
Singer/songwriter Neko Case has booked a half-dozen dates around the Northeast to try out some new songs from her next album.
The mini-tour is set to launch Jan. 25 in Tarrytown, NY, and will pass by cities in New York, Vermont, Rhode Island and Massachusetts through early February. Crooked Fingers leader Eric Bachmann will provide support on all shows. Details are listed below.
Last year was a busy one for Case, as she toured around the country, playing solo gigs and dates with artists including Merle Haggard, Emmylou Harris, Charlie Louvin and Rufus Wainwright to support her critically acclaimed 2006 set, "Fox Confessor Brings the Flood." Case also hit the road with her indie-rock supergroup, The New Pornographers .
"Fox Confessor Brings the Flood" is Case's fourth set of studio material since her 1997 debut, "The Virginian." "Fox Confessor," produced by Case with Darryl Neudorf, features guest appearances by members of Calexico, The Sadies and Giant Sand, among others. A couple of songs from the set are streaming at Case's MySpace page.
In November, Anti- Records released a deluxe version of "Fox Confessor" with a five-song bonus disc including a demo version of the tune "Behind The House," which previously had been available only on the "Live From Austin City Limits" CD. A free download of the song is also being offered at Case's website.
The genre-bending singer is almost finished writing the material for her next album, according to a posting at her website.
