Neil Young Announces Solo Tour
Neil Young will kick off a North American tour in Virginia Beach on August 8. Young is touring in support of his latest album, “Silver and Gold,” which was released in April.
The Pretenders are slated as the opening act for all of Young’s performances except his Sept. 17 Farm Aid stop in Virginia.
Young’s musical career spans over three decades, starting with his initial success with the group Buffalo Springfield, an outfit that also featured future Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young bandmate Steven Stills. Young then formed Crazy Horse, with whom he achieved solo success in the late ‘60s before joining the already successful David Crosby, Steven Stills and Graham Nash in the summer of 1969 to form CSNY.
Young ultimately went back to focusing on his own solo career. A staunch opponent of corporate influence in the music world, Young experimented with many different styles and genres ranging from folk to country to hard rock.
Despite the once vitriolic relationship with his former bandmates, Young participated in a successful reunion tour with Crosby, Stills and Nash earlier this year. The “CSNY2K” tour kicked off in January and wrapped up in April.
Young’s upcoming solo tour is scheduled to run until Sept. 19.
