Miley Cyrus extends 'Best of Both Worlds' tour
Teen sensation Miley Cyrus , a.k.a. Hannah Montana, whose "Best of Both Worlds Tour" has been one of this year's hottest tickets, has extended the run further into next year.
Cyrus, whose in-progress tour previously was scheduled to conclude with a Jan. 9 performance in Albany, NY, has added 14 new shows that will keep her on the road through the end of January, including stops in Detroit, Milwaukee, Chicago, St. Louis, Las Vegas, New Orleans and Miami. Details are included below.
Current show openers The Jonas Brothers will remain on the bill through Jan. 9, after which Aly & AJ will take over through Jan. 24; a yet-to-be announced act will then fill the opening slot from Jan. 25 through the Jan. 31 finale in Miami.
The 15-year-old Cyrus, who rose to fame in the leading role of the hit Disney Channel series "Hannah Montana," launched her tour in mid-October in support of her double-platinum, two-disc collection, "Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus ." The set--which comprises one disc of tunes culled from the show, and a second disc that serves as Cyrus's solo debut--debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart and reached platinum status (US shipment of 1 million copies) after its first week in stores.
As previously reported, Cyrus's performances on the current tour--which continues tonight (12/12) in Lexington, KY--feature the teen performer hitting the stage as Hannah Montana for one set of tunes, then as herself for a second batch of songs.
