Rosanne Cash recovering from brain surgery
Singer/songwriter Rosanne Cash is recovering "comfortably" at her New York City home after undergoing brain surgery last month to correct a rare condition, according to her label.
Cash, who canceled all of her remaining scheduled appearances for this year before the surgery, was treated for what a press release termed a "structural problem" caused by Chiari 1 Malformation, a rare but generally benign congenital malformation of the brain.
A message posted last week on Cash's website reassured fans that "Rosanne is back home recovering comfortably from her surgery, which took place on November 27. She extends thanks and appreciation for all the love, good wishes, prayers and kindness."
Although the procedure wiped out her slate of remaining 2007 shows, Cash has lined up a modest run of appearances next spring, beginning with a March 3 show in Tampa, FL. All of the singer's scheduled dates are below.
Cash, the daughter of country/folk icon Johnny Cash, was touring in support of last year's Grammy-nominated "Black Cadillac." She signed with Manhattan earlier this year and was due to enter the studio to record tracks for her debut with the EMI-based label.
"Black Cadillac," which hit stores last January, reflects on the passing of her father, mother (Johnny Cash's first wife, Vivian Liberto) and stepmother (June Carter Cash), all within a fifteen-month period.
The album was nominated earlier this year for a Grammy Award in the Best Contemporary Folk category.
