Silverstein chills in North America next year

Canadian emo/screamo band Silverstein will embark on an extensive North American tour next year, following runs through Europe and Australia.

The 10-date Canadian leg, which launches Jan. 28 in Vancouver, will mark Silverstein's first headlining jaunt through its home country. The band will segue into the "Chillers: Bros In the Snow Winter Tour," which is set to begin Feb. 21 in Worcester, MA, and stop in US cities from coast-to-coast through late March. Details are listed below.

Fellow rockers Protest The Hero, Ill Scarlett and The Devil Wears Prada will go along on the Canadian trek. In the US, The Devil Wears Prada and A Day To Remember will support the entire outing, while Protest the Hero and Four Letter Lie will split opening duties.

Silverstein is touring behind its third studio album, "Arrivals & Departures," which dropped in July. The set, produced by Mark Trombino (Jimmy Eat World, Blink 182), shot to the top of Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart and reach No. 25 on The Billboard 200. A few songs from the record are streaming at the band's MySpace page.

"Arrivals & Departures" follows 2005's "Discovering the Waterfront," which sold more than 300,000 copies on the strength of relentless touring and word-of-mouth promotion, according to the band's bio. Last year, Silverstein also released "18 Candles: The Early Years," which includes cuts from its first two EPs as well as bonus and live tracks.

That early material was recorded shortly after Silverstein formed in a Toronto suburb at the turn of the millennium. The bandmates went on to sign with Victory Records and released their debut, "When Broken is Easily Fixed," in 2003.

The quintet has gained momentum by taking part in a slew of festival tours, including A Taste of Chaos and Warped Tour in the US, and the Give It A Name and Download festivals in the UK.
