Marilyn Manson crosses the US this winter
Shock-rocker Marilyn Manson has laid out plans for a five-week trek across the US in the new year.
The performer, who will finish a European tour next week, is scheduled to launch his North American outing Jan. 19 in Orlando, FL. He'll travel from the East Coast to the West Coast through late February, with two-night stands booked in New York City and Los Angeles. Manson will also cross the border for a Feb. 16 gig in Vancouver. Dates are listed below.
Over the summer, Manson embarked on a co-headlining jaunt with metal vets Slayer to support his latest release, "Eat Me, Drink Me," which dropped in June and peaked at No. 8 on The Billboard 200. The set, said to be Manson's most personal statement yet, followed a period of turmoil during which the singer reportedly considered suicide.
"This record was my salvation," he told MTV in an interview earlier this year. "This was my rebirth. This was me realizing who I am, so this is the most important record I've ever made, in every possible way."
The video for lead single "Heart Shaped Glasses (When the Heart Guides the Hand)," which features Manson's girlfriend, actress Evan Rachel Wood, is streaming at the rocker's website.
Manson had planned to release the film "Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll" in conjunction with "Eat Me, Drink Me," but that's apparently been pushed back to next year. The horror flick, in which Manson will star and make his feature-film directorial debut, is based on the life of "Alice in Wonderland" creator Lewis Carrol.
