KISS Adds More Dates To Farewell Tour

KISS has added 21 new dates to its North American Farewell Tour. The new itinerary--which includes multiple stops in California, Texas, Indiana, Mississippi and Missouri--will keep the face-painted foursome touring the states until Sept. 18.

Ted Nugent and Skid Row are still slated to open for KISS throughout the tour, although Skid Row will not be performing at the July 28-30 and Aug. 1 California shows due to a prior commitment. KISS' management says the band still plans to have two opening acts on those dates, but a replacement for Skid Row has not been named.

The band is in the midst of what it claims will be its final tour, its third since reuniting the original KISS lineup in 1996. Peter Criss left the group in 1980 and was followed shortly thereafter by guitarist Ace Frehley. Primary songwriters Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley continued touring as KISS with a rotating cast of drummers and guitarists until the original lineup reformed for an MTV Unplugged performance that preceded what proved to be the highest-grossing tour of 1996.

KISS is expected to end its North American tour with a multiple-night run at New York City's Madison Square Garden in late September, though no dates have been confirmed at this time.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that Simmons plans to dedicate his post-tour time to film production at the helm of his recently launched Gene Simmons Co. entertainment company. The bassist produced last year's "Detroit Rock City," a film in which KISS made a brief cameo.
