Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood reveal initial tour dates
Confirmed dates are starting to trickle in for next year's US tour pairing Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood .
The 24-city "Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Carnival Ride Tour" is scheduled to kick off Jan. 31 with a two-night stand in Uncasville, CT. Other cities confirmed so far are Roanoke, VA; Omaha, NE; and San Jose, CA. Details are listed below.
Urban, who recently picked up his third Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year award, is supporting his latest No. 1 album, "Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing," as well as his best-of collection, "Keith Urban Greatest Hits: 18 Kids," which dropped last week.
The country star has been on the road since April and he'll continue through mid-December with gigs in the US and Canada. Urban's remaining 2007 shows can be found at his website. He's also looking ahead to next summer, having booked a date on "Kenny Chesney's Poets & Pirates 2008 Tour." The July 26 show at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA, will also feature Sammy Hagar, LeAnn Rimes and Gary Allen.
Underwood is riding high on the success of her sophomore album, "Carnival Ride," which debuted atop The Billboard 200 last month after selling more than a half million copies during its first week in stores. Lead single "So Small" recently claimed the No. 1 spot on country airplay charts and is also making waves on the pop charts.
Meanwhile, the "American Idol" winner is still collecting kudos for her multi-platinum-selling debut, "Some Hearts." Earlier this month, Underwood scored three American Music Awards, including Favorite Country Female Artist and Favorite Country Album. Before that, she took home two CMA Awards: Female Vocalist of the Year and Single of the Year for "Before He Cheats," which is one of five No. 1 singles off of "Some Hearts." That set is the best-selling female country album of 2005, 2006 and 2007, according to a press release.
Underwood has one more concert on her schedule this year: she'll play the Tuesday Night Opry Dec. 11 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium with Blake Shelton, The Grascals, Jimmy Dickens and Bill Anderson.
