Anberlin finds 'Lost Songs' on the road
Alt-rockers Anberlin have released a new album as they continue an extensive North American tour with Motion City Soundtrack , Mae and Metro Station.
Last week, the Florida-based band dropped "Lost Songs," a 19-track collection featuring rare and previously unreleased material including B-sides, acoustic versions and demos, as well as covers of tunes by Bob Dylan, Depeche Mode, Radiohead, The Smiths and others.
Anberlin also continues to support its third album, "Cities," which surfaced in February. The set, the band's third offering from Tooth and Nail Records, debuted at No. 19 on The Billboard 200. Though the band's 2005 sophomore breakthrough, "Never Take Friendship Personal," sold more than 150,000 copies, Anberlin frontman Stephen Christian considers the third time to be the charm.
"Anberlin has always had really good songs," Christian said in statement. "Still, I think this is the first time we've got a really great album. We spent most of our energy on the entire project over the individual songs."
A few tunes from "Cities," including latest single "The Unwinding Cable Car," are streaming at Anberlin's MySpace page.
The band announced in September that it signed with Universal Republic Records and is expecting its fourth studio album in mid-2008.
Anberlin has been all over the world this year, headlining a major tour of North America in the spring, playing the Warped tour and visiting Europe, Australia and Japan. The band's current trek, which launched in mid-October, continues tonight (11/28) in Seattle and is due to wrap with a two-night stand Dec. 15-16 in Chicago. The remaining dates are listed below.
