Southern rockers The Black Crowes [ tickets ] will release their first album of all-new material in more than seven years next March when the 11-track "Warpaint" hits store shelves.

Released on the band's newly created Silver Arrow Records imprint and distributed through Megaforce/Red/SonyBMG, the set was produced by the band's temporary guitarist, Paul Stacey, who stepped aside during the recording process to make way for new guitarist Luther Dickinson.

Dickinson is one of two new members of the Crowes who make an appearance on the disc, joining new keyboardist Adam MacDougall. The band's core duo of brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, along with drummer Steve Gorman and bassist Sven Pipien, fill out the lineup that appears on "Warpaint."

The Robinson brothers co-wrote all of the new album's songs save "God's Got It," credited to the Reverend Charlie Jackson.

According to a press statement, the band will head out on the road beginning in March to perform "Warpaint" (the title signifies "the revolution that could take place in all our souls," according to Chris Robinson) in its entirety in select cities. Dates and venues for the shows will be announced at a later time. The band has also lined up an Australian tour for late March and early April; those dates can be found at the group's website.

Aside from last July's dual CD/DVD entitled "Brothers of a Feather," featuring video shot during founding Crowes members Chris and Rich Robinson's series of acoustic performances last fall, the group's most recent studio album was 2001's "Lions," which was the last Crowes studio material to surface before the band went on a hiatus that lasted three years, beginning in 2002.
