Ryan Adams plots early 2008 trek, eyes new album

Singer/songwriter Ryan Adams has announced dates for a West Coast tour early next year, followed by a return to the studio to record a new album with his backing band, The Cardinals.

The singer, who spent months on the road this year behind his latest set, "Easy Tiger," hits Tulsa, OK, on Jan. 16 to kick off his next stretch on the road, a 10-city outing that runs through the latter half of January. All dates are shown below.

Adams is also supporting a new EP, "Follow the Lights," which dropped in October. The set includes two new songs--“Follow The Lights” and “My Love For You Is Real”--along with live-in-studio versions of several other songs, as well a cover of Alice In Chains' "Down in a Hole."

"Easy Tiger," which hit stores in June, was Adams' first studio effort since his prolific output of 2005, which saw the May release of a double album titled "Cold Roses" and the September release of "Jacksonville City Nights," both of which are credited to Ryan Adams & The Cardinals. A third set titled "29" followed in December of that year, and was billed as a solo set from Adams.

A recent post by the singer on a popular Adams fansite listed a number of new projects he's working on, including the announcement of his next album with The Cardinals. The singer and his band plan to enter the studio following the upcoming West Coast tour to work on the set, which is tentatively titled "Cardinals III/IV" and will feature Neal Casal on songwriting and vocal duties alongside Adams. Adams also mentioned the possibility of a new solo album, sans backing band.

Adams added that the new disc would "reflect the Cardinals you hear live, during those two-set nights."
