Stevie Wonder adds new December dates
Stevie Wonder adds a few late-year dates to his schedule as the iconic performer gets ready to roll out the 12th edition of his benefit House Full of Toys concert in December.
Wonder, who kicked off his first tour in a dozen years this fall, continues to tinker with his road schedule, adding fresh new dates through the first half of December. The singer's next show is scheduled for Nov. 28 in Charlotte, NC.
Aside from the Dec. 15 benefit in Los Angeles--an annual event at which Wonder typically brings along a cadre of fellow stars to help raise money for needy children in the LA area--the singer has added new shows in Memphis (Dec. 2); suburban Dallas (Dec. 5-6); and Glendale, AZ, outside of Phoenix (Dec. 9). All dates are listed below.
The singer's recent return to concert stages was inspired in part by his mother, Lula Mae Hardaway, who passed away last year. The star is also working on an album, "The Gospel Inspired by Lula," which he hopes to have ready by January to honor his mother's birthday, according to Billboard. Three of Wonder's biggest hits--"Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours" (1970), "Don't Know Why I Love You" (1969) and "I Was Made To Love Her" (1967)--were co-penned by his mother.
Wonder's latest studio album, "A Time to Love," surfaced in 2005 and reached No. 5 on The Billboard 200, spawning the singles "So What the Fuss," "Shelter in the Rain" and "From the Bottom of my Heart."
The singer, who has appeared sporadically in recent years at various charity concerts and one-off affairs, hadn't launched a full tour since 1995, when he hit the road in support of that year's "Conversation Peace."
