Rascal Flatts expand 2008 schedule
Rascal Flatts is getting the ball rolling on next year's tour schedule, adding a few more arena dates to the fold.
The country-pop trio will launch its next round of shows Jan. 17 in Manchester, NH, and then head for New York's Madison Square Garden the following night. Cities added to the itinerary since last check include Moline, IL; Fort Wayne, IN; and Orlando, FL. Rascal Flatts is also set to play the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in March and headline the first day of the May 3-4 Stagecoach Country Music Festival in Indio, CA. Detials are listed below.
The group is riding high on the success of its September release, "Still Feels Good," which shot to No. 1 out of the gate, selling about 547,000 copies its first week. The album is Rascal Flatts ' third consecutive No. 1 debut and has spawned the band's fastest-rising single, "Take Me There."
"Still Feels Good" marks the group's fifth studio set, and follows last year's "Me and My Gang," which was the biggest sales debut of 2006. The tour behind that album reached more than 1 million fans in 74 cities, making Rascal Flatts the best-selling artist across all genres in 2006, according to a press release.
When the guys aren't collecting hit records and selling out concerts, they're gathering music industry honors left and right. Last week, they took home the Country Music Association's Vocal Group of the Year award. Earlier this year, they scored a pair of People's Choice honors: Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards and their fifth consecutive Vocal Group of the Year trophy from the Academy of Country Music.
On Sunday (11/18), Rascal Flatts will perform at the 35th Annual American Music Awards, where they're up for Favorite Album and Favorite Band, Duo or Group. The ceremony at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre is scheduled to air live on ABC-TV.
