Jay-Z notches his 10th No. 1 album
Jay-Z 's "American Gangster" sold 425,000 copies during its first week in stores, more than enough to give the rap icon his 10th No. 1 album.
According to Billboard, all eight of Jay-Z's solo albums released since 1998 have reached No. 1, as well as his collaborative albums with Linkin Park and R. Kelly.
After debuting last week at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart, the Eagles ' "Long Road Out of Eden" slips to No. 2 this week with sales of 359,000, while Garth Brooks ' "The Ultimate Hits" takes the No. 3 spot on sales of 352,000. Billboard bases its album chart on Nielsen SoundScan retail reports.
Chris Brown 's "Exclusive" sold 294,000 copies during its debut week to claim the No. 4 spot, while Carrie Underwood 's "Carnival Ride" falls two notches to No. 5 on sales of 121,000 copies.
Filling the remaining slots on the Top 10 are Josh Groban 's "Noel," Britney Spears ' "Blackout," Taylor Swift 's self-titled debut, Angels and Airwaves' "I-Empire" and Cassidy 's "B.A.R.S. The Barry Adrian Reese Story."
