Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood team for 2008 jaunt
Country stars Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood will hit the road together next year on a 24-city trek across the US.
The "Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Carnival Ride Tour," which combines the names of the Grammy-winners' latest albums, is set to launch Jan. 31. Dates and venues have not yet been announced; the initial lineup of cities is listed below.
Urban has been on the road since April supporting his latest No. 1 album, "Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing," which surfaced a year ago and has spawned crossover hits "Stupid Boy" and "I Told You So," along with the Grammy-nominated song "Once in a Lifetime." The singer, who's performed shows on three continents this year, will continue touring through mid-December with gigs in the US and Canada. His confirmed itinerary can be found at his website.
Urban is also getting ready for the Nov. 20 release of his best-of collection entitled "Keith Urban Greatest Hits: 18 Kids." The set will feature all of the performer's No. 1 hits, two new tracks, a remake of Steve Forbert's 1979 hit "Romeo's Tune" and a new full-band recording of "Got It Right This Time (The Celebration)."
Underwood is riding high on the success of her sophomore album, "Carnival Ride," which debuted atop The Billboard 200 last month. The record sold more than a half million copies in its first week, making it the best-selling debut of any female artist this year. Lead single "So Small" is currently on country, pop and adult contemporary charts.
Last week, the "American Idol" winner scored two trophies at the Country Music Association Awards: Female Vocalist of the Year and Single of the Year for "Before He Cheats." The hit song is one of five No. 1 singles off of Underwood's multi-platinum debut, "Some Hearts," which is the best-selling female country album of 2005, 2006 and 2007, according to a press release.
