Martina McBride laughs her way into next year
Martina McBride has assembled her first round of 2008 concert dates as she continues the momentum behind her latest album, "Waking Up Laughing."
The country star, who has shows booked in Washington, DC, and Friant, CA, before the year is up, will launch her 2008 tour Jan. 18 in Evansville, IN. So far, she has dates stretching from the Midwest to the East Coast through early March.
This time around, Texas-based singer/songwriter Jack Ingram and up-and-coming Nashville trio Lady Antebellum will open the shows, which are listed below.
McBride's 2007 jaunt, which wrapped in August, reached more than 250,000 fans in 52 cities, making it the No. 1 solo-female country tour as ranked by trade magazine Pollstar, according to a press release.
"Waking Up Laughing" is the singer's ninth album and marks her first time serving as producer, writer and artist. The set's debut single, "Anyway," has become the fastest-selling single of McBride's career and is up for three trophies at next month's CMA Awards. The performer is also up for Top Female Vocalist--a category she's won four times. She currently shares the record for most CMA Female Vocalist wins with Reba McEntire.
This holiday season, McBride is also supporting the reissue of her album "White Christmas," which surfaced earlier this month. The updated version of the set includes four additional recordings: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," "Winter Wonderland," "Jingle Bells" and "Baby, It's Cold Outside," which is a previously released duet with Dean Martin.
McBride has sold more than 16 million albums and charted 22 Top 10 singles in her 15-year career, according to the her bio.
