Keith Urban returns to the road with hits album in tow
Keith Urban 's North American tour continues to grow as the country star gets ready to release a greatest-hits album.
Urban, who launched his "Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy World Tour" in April, will start the second leg of his North American jaunt Nov. 1 in Columbus, OH, and visit cities in the eastern half of the US and Canada through mid-December. Since last check, dates have been added in Champaign, IL; Greenville, SC; Sunrise, FL; and Ottawa, Ontario. Platinum-selling country singer Gary Allan will open the shows, which are listed below.
During a break from the road this month, Urban has been in a Nashville recording studio putting the finishing touches on his best-of album, "Keith Urban Greatest Hits: 18 Kids," which is due Nov. 20.
"These songs are like my children," the singer said in a statement. "That's what prompted the '18 Kids' subtitle."
In addition to all of Urban's No. 1 hits, the set will feature two newly recorded tracks, a remake of Steve Forbert's 1979 hit "Romeo's Tune," and a new full-band recording of "Got It Right This Time (The Celebration)." A special-edition version will also include a DVD of 12 of Urban's most popular music videos.
The performer's most recent studio album, "Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing," surfaced last November and debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. The record has spawned crossover hits "Stupid Boy" and "I Told You So," along with the Grammy-nominated song "Once in a Lifetime." Urban is scheduled to perform his latest single, "Everybody," on "The Ellen Degeneres Show" Nov. 6.
He'll also take time out to perform at the Nov. 7 CMA Awards, where he's vying for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist, Album of the Year and Song of the Year for "Stupid Boy." The Nashville ceremony will air on ABC-TV.
