Korn's Jonathan Davis plots first solo tour
Korn frontman Jonathan Davis has mapped out an extensive schedule of dates around the country this winter as the nu-metal vet prepares for the first solo tour of his career.
The California-born singer--whose previous stabs at a creative life outside the context of Korn have been confined to a few movie and video appearances and providing the singing voice of "Lestat" in the 2002 film adaptation of Anne Rice's "Queen of the Damned"--will kick off his solo headlining run Nov. 9 in Hartford, CT.
The 24-city outing will traverse the nation from east to west, winding down in mid-December with a California/Nevada stretch. All dates are listed below.
"I have wanted to do this forever," Davis said in a statement announcing the tour. "Ever since I did the 'Queen of the Damned' and more recently [Korn 's appearance on] 'MTV Unplugged' I have wanted to be able to play those songs live. It's going to be acoustic, but still heavy and very intimate. It will totally blow peoples minds."
According to the singer's publicist, Davis plans to pull his set material "from the entire Korn repertoire with obscure tracks and some fan favorites," including Davis' songs from "Queen of the Damned" (he was replaced on the film's official soundtrack with a different vocalist for legal reasons) and various cover tunes.
Earlier this summer, Korn released its eighth studio album, which officially has no title. The set was released July 31 and hit No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart, moving 123,000 copies during its first week on store shelves.
The new set follows 2005's multi-platinum "See You on the Other Side" and March's "MTV Unplugged: Korn." Several songs from the untitled album, including rock radio hit "Evolution," are streaming at Korn's MySpace page.
