Manchester Orchestra, Annuals team for fall tour
Alt-rockers Manchester Orchestra and their indie cousins Annuals will launch a co-headlining tour later this month, with both bands continuing to back debut albums.
The twin-billed tour will kick off Oct. 27 in Carrboro, NC, a few days after Manchester Orchestra polishes off a two-night engagement in Nashville starting Oct. 18. The 19-date trek will take the bands through the latter half of November. Dates are listed below.
The two outfits recently collaborated on an exclusive 7-inch split single, which will only be available for purchase at shows on the upcoming tour. The record contains Manchester Orchestra 's cover of Annuals ' "Brother," and Annuals' cover of Manchester Orchestra's "Where Have You Been?" The artwork features each group "interpreting" the others' album artwork on respective sides of the packaging, according to a press release.
Atlanta's Manchester Orchestra worked with producer Dan Hannon on its debut full-length, "I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child," in the summer of 2006, recording the album live to tape.
"The concept of the record is sort of my loss," said vocalist/guitarist Andy Hull in a press release. "My realization that I don't have control over anything. And that's a good thing. They're all personal songs in that every song is about me. In all of the loss there's still this hope I'm trying to convey."
Raleigh, NC-based Annuals released their debut full-length, "Be He Me," in October of last year. The six-piece group also released a UK-only EP, "Big Zeus," earlier this year.
