James Taylor tours behind forthcoming live set
James Taylor has a new CD/DVD package on deck, as well as another round of US dates that will take him across the country in October and November.
The quintessential singer/songwriter will play an Oct. 20 benefit show in Richmond, VA, before kicking off his tour six days later in Billings, MT, and is currently scheduled to play arenas from coast to coast through Nov. 16. The schedule is listed below.
Tickets are on sale in most markets (the Oct. 27 show in Missoula, MT, is already sold out) and the final four shows go on sale next weekend. Details are available at Taylor's website.
In November, the performer will release "James Taylor 's One Man Band," which captures a couple of July performances at the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, MA. The CD/DVD collection features new versions of some of Taylor's biggest hits, including "Carolina In My Mind" and "Fire and Rain," interspersed with his anecdotes on the inspiration for the tunes. It also includes exclusive interviews, home movies and personal photographs.
"This set is an intimate retrospective of 40 years worth of songs and the people, places and events that inspired them," Taylor said in a statement posted at his website. "I am very grateful to [Director] Don Mischer, [Executive Producer] Sydney Pollack, and [record label] Hear Music for taking great care with what are very personal songs for me and my fans."
"James Taylor's One Man Band" will be available at Starbucks coffee shops and traditional retailers.
Taylor's latest studio album of all-new, non-holiday material is 2002's "October Road," which spawned the Grammy-winning song "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight."
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has earned five Grammys in a career that spans five decades and boasts sales of more than 40 million albums.
