Bruce Springsteen doubles up in DC, Boston
Ticket demand has prompted additional shows for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, who are getting ready to kick off their first full-scale tour of North America and Europe since 2003.
Second nights were recently added to November stops in Boston and Washington, DC. Philadelphia, New York City, Chicago and East Rutherford, NJ, will also get two-night stands from The Boss and company.
The outing will start Sept. 24-25 with a pair of rehearsal shows for a limited number of fans in Springsteen's hometown of Asbury Park, NJ. Those gigs, which went on sale yesterday (9/20), are already sold out, according to Springsteen's website.
The official tour launch will take place in Hartford, CT, Oct. 2--the same day the band's new album, "Magic," is set to drop. From there, the rockers will play 13 more cities across the US and two in Ontario, Canada, through mid-November. Details are listed below.
Most dates are already on sale, with the exception of the Oct. 29 show at Los Angeles' Sports Arena, which will see tickets roll out Sept. 29, and the Nov. 18-19 gigs in Boston, which are scheduled to go on sale Sept. 24.
Following the North American jaunt, Springsteen and the E Street Band will head to Europe for nearly four weeks. Those dates can be found at The Boss' website.
"Magic" is Springsteen's first new studio recording with the E Street Band since 2002's Grammy-winning, multi-platinum album "The Rising." The forthcoming set--which, like "The Rising," was produced by Brendan O'Brien--comprises 11 new songs.
Meanwhile, the "E Street Radio" channel will return to Sirius Satellite Radio just in time for the new album and tour. The commercial-free channel will premiere Sept. 27 at 6 pm ET on Sirius channel 10 and run through March 2008, according to a posting at Springsteen's website. It will feature music from "Magic," exclusive interviews with Springsteen and the band members, and rare archival concert recordings.
