The Hives perform in 'Black & White'
Swedish garage-rockers The Hives are back with a new album and a plan to tour the entire planet, starting with North America.
The band will hit the road later this month and trade off arena gigs opening for Maroon 5 with headlining shows in clubs and theaters. Several markets on the itinerary will get back-to-back Hives performances--one large and one on the more intimate side.
The outing kicks off Sept. 29 in Auburn Hills, MI, and traverses the US and Canada through Nov. 9. Details are listed below. A European tour will launch Nov. 19; the schedule for those shows can be found at The Hives' recently launched new website.
The band is getting ready to bust out with its fourth studio set, "The Black & White Album," which is set to drop Oct. 9 in the US. A sample of the lead single, "Tick Tick Boom," is streaming at The Hives' MySpace page and has already been featured in a Nike commercial. The song became available for purchase at the iTunes Music Store today (9/14).
"The Black & White Album" is the follow-up to 2004's "Tyrannosaurus Hives," which peaked at No. 33 on The Billboard 200 and spawned mainstream- and modern-rock hit "Walk Idiot Walk."
The Hives and their matching outfits broke through to US audiences in 2001, due in large part to their raucous live shows. The quintet's 2002 album, "Veni Vidi Vicious," produced its biggest hit to date, "Hate To Say I Told You So."
