Pearl Jam To Release Recordings From Each European Tour Stop
Pearl Jam will release live recordings of each concert from the band’s current European tour, according to the band-sanctioned Pearl Jam Rumor Pit website. The band opened its European tour on May 23 and is scheduled to play 28 European dates in all, so that would amount to 28 new releases from the band.
The CDs will be released in August through Ten Club, the official Pearl Jam fan club, and will later appear in retail outlets.
Pearl Jam has allowed the taping of its performances by fans--for trade, not for sale--but in an open letter to fans last winter, frontman Eddie Vedder expressed concern that fans were paying too much money for low-quality bootlegs. Pearl Jam and Sony Music haven't announced the list prices of the live CDs or any other details.
The Rumor Pit also reports that, “because of permits and paperwork problems,” the Budapest, Hungary show has been cancelled. The band will instead play an additional show at Spodek in Katowice, Poland.
The North American leg of the tour opens on Aug. 3. Sonic Youth will be the opening act through Sept. 5, and Supergrass will open for the remainder of the tour.
Shows have been added in several North American markets where initial ticket sales were especially strong, including Boston, Wantagh, N.Y., The Woodlands, Texas (near Houston), and Camden, N.J.
