Kid Rock taps into rock's higher power
Kid Rock is getting ready to preach the gospel of "Rock N Roll Jesus," his new studio album that is scheduled to hit stores Oct. 9.
The rap-rocker is assembling a North American tour to support the set, and so far has a series of intimate concerts booked in Cincinnati, New York City, Toronto, Nashville, Miami and Atlanta. Those are listed below. Other cities confirmed in a press release, but not yet added to the tour section of Rock's website, include San Francisco, Vancouver, Denver, Milwaukee and Chicago.
The multiplatinum-selling performer will also preview his new material at the Sept. 15 KROQ LA Invasion in Carson, CA.
"Rock N Roll Jesus" was produced by Kid Rock and Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Goo Goo Dolls), and sees the American Bad Ass backed by his longtime Twisted Brown Trucker band, with additional vocals provided by the Fisk Jubilee Singers, according to a press release.
On the album, the outspoken Rock tackles themes including race relations, religion in America and, of course, sex. The provocative video for the lead single, "So Hott," premiered last weekend on the VH1 Top 20 Countdown. The song, which is currently climbing active-rock, mainstream-rock and alternative-airplay charts, is streaming at Rock's MySpace page.
Rock's last proper studio album was his self-titled 2003 set. Last year, he released his first-ever live record, "Live Trucker," and put out the instrumental "Pickin' On Kid Rock: A Badass Bluegrass Tribute" in March.
