Kelly Clarkson announces scaled-down tour

Kelly Clarkson , who canceled her summer arena trek due to poor ticket sales, has assembled a fall tour of more intimate venues.

The outing is scheduled to kick off Oct. 10 in Verona, NY, and visit US cities from coast to coast, as well as Toronto, through early December. Dates include a three-night stand Oct. 14-16 at New York City's Beacon Theatre. The itinerary is listed below.

Clarkson is supporting her third album, "My December," which hit the streets in July. Despite reports of a feud with RCA label chief Clive Davis over the material on the record, it debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200, selling more than 300,000 copies in its first week.

"My December" follows the "American Idol" winner's 2004 Grammy-winning sophomore set, "Breakaway," which sold 11 million copies worldwide on the strength of hits including "Since U Been Gone," the title track, "Behind These Hazel Eyes," "Because of You" and "Walk Away," according to Clarkson's bio.

The singer, who wrote or co-wrote every song on the new set, said "My December" is a very intimate look at her life.

"Regardless of whether it's a happy or sad song, the album's very in-your-face," she said in a statement.

A couple of songs from the record, including radio hit "Never Again," are streaming at Clarkson's MySpace page.

It's been a rough couple of months for the pop star, who parted ways with her longtime manager Jeff Kwatinetz following the tour cancellation. She has since replaced him with Starstruck Entertainment CEO Narvel Blackstock, who is Reba McEntire's husband/manager.

On the bright side, Clarkson is vying for her first Country Music Association Award for her duet with McEntire on "Because of You."

Clarkson will return to the stage this Thursday (9/6) to perform at the NFL Opening Kickoff in Indianapolis, which will air on NBC-TV.
