More Van Halen shows trickle in

With several shows on its upcoming tour already sold-out, Van Halen has added a couple of dates and tweaked its schedule a bit.

The rock gods, who have reunited with original frontman David Lee Roth after 22 years, will kick off their North American outing Sept. 27 in Charlotte, NC. Since last check, they've slotted in shows Oct. 5 in Uncasville, CT, and Nov. 29 in Fresno, CA, and made their finale a Dec. 16 gig in San Jose, CA. Details are listed below.

Since tickets went on sale earlier this month, Van Halen has sold out shows in Charlotte, NC; Philadelphia; Boston; Washington, DC; and two each in Toronto, the Chicago area and the Detroit area, according to information from tour promoter Live Nation and Van Halen's website. The Uncasville concert went on sale this morning (8/31) and on-sale dates for shows in November and December have yet to be announced.

Fans who have the Citi/AAdvantage credit card will be offered access to preferred seats and those willing to pay for the "ultimate Van Halen experience"--with pre-show parties, backstage access, premium seating, etc. (though no guaranteed face time with the band)--can find details at the I Love All Access website.

Though Roth is back in the band, Van Halen will not be returning to the road with its original lineup. Guitarist Eddie Van Halen's 16-year-old son, Wolfgang, will take the place of original bassist Michael Anthony, who's been playing regularly with former VH frontman Sammy Hagar. In fact, Hagar and Anthony are heading out in October for a 60-date run that will feature a set of Van Halen material.

VH is on the short list of artists who have scored two Diamond Awards, signifying album sales of 10 million or more, according to a press release. The recently inducted Rock and Roll Hall of Famers earned the honor with their 1978 self-titled debut and again with "1984." They are also in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most No. 1 hits on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart.
