Amy Winehouse postpones North American trek
British soul singer Amy Winehouse , who's been reported to be in and out of rehab, has postponed next month's North American tour with Paolo Nutini .
"Due to the rigours involved in touring, Amy Winehouse has been advised to postpone her upcoming September US and Canadian tour dates," a statement from the singer's camp reads. "Amy's European and UK tour dates in October and November remain in place. Plans are being made to reschedule her US tour for early 2008. Until then, Amy has been ordered to rest and is working with medical professionals to address her health."
Ticket holders can obtain refunds at their point of purchase.
The outing with Nutini was scheduled to kick off Sept. 8 in Toronto and visit theaters in major markets across the US and Canada through the end of the month. Nutini is still expected in America next month, as he was scheduled to play several of his own shows during the trek and will start his own US club tour in October.
If everything goes as planned with Winehouse, she'll launch her European tour Oct. 15 in Berlin and travel through early December, according to her MySpace page.
In recent weeks, Winehouse has dropped out of several European shows, and British newspapers have reported that she checked herself into--and then out of--a rehab clinic near London to deal with alcohol and drug problems. Earlier this month, she was hospitalized for "severe exhaustion," according to several reports.
The singer's husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, recently told ABC News that his wife was going back to the "retreat" and that she was determined to get well.
Winehouse has been touring behind her sophomore album, "Back to Black," which was released last October in the UK and spawned the hit "Rehab." The critically acclaimed set has earned her a Mercury Prize nomination and she's up for several trophies at the MTV Video Music Awards.
