The Hold Steady plots stateside tour with Art Brut
Indie rockers The Hold Steady will continue to back their latest album, last year's "Boys and Girls in America," during a fall tour with British art-rockers Art Brut .
"We are super happy to be touring with Art Brut," Hold Steady frontman Craig Finn said in a press statement. "I believe (Art Brut lead singer) Eddie Argos to be one of the finest current lyricists in rock. I believe he completely understands the place for both humor and honesty in rock and roll."
The co-headlined outing gets underway Oct. 21 in Providence, RI, with 26 cities lined up for the month-long trek, which winds to a close with a late November date in New York City. The complete schedule is below.
"Boys and Girls in America," which hit stores last October, was recorded in early 2006 and produced by John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.). The album's title was taken from a line in Jack Kerouac's beat classic "On the Road," according to Finn.
"The line goes, 'Boys and girls in America have such a sad time together,'" Finn told Billboard.com earlier this year.
Art Brut 's sophomore effort, "It's a Bit Complicated," hit stores in June. The album follows the band's 2005 full-length debut, "Bang Bang Rock and Roll."
