The Used gets back on track
Alt-rockers The Used are set to resume live performances this week and will launch a headlining trek of the US next month.
The band was forced off the road in late June after frontman Bert McCracken underwent vocal cord surgery. Doctors recommended rest without singing for five weeks and expected a full recovery, according to a press release.
Now, McCracken is on the mend and expected to perform at the Leeds and Reading festivals in the UK this weekend. The Used will launch its US jaunt Sept. 4 in Pompano Beach, FL, and travel from the East Coast to the West Coast, ending Oct. 8 in Anaheim, CA. The Utah-based quartet will then head out for the international leg of the Rockstar Taste of Chaos Tour, which will visit Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Europe through late November.
"We're getting ready to rock the world, so get ready!" drummer Dan Whitesides said in a posting at The Used's website.
The band's US dates are detailed below, while international shows can be found at its website. In the midst of the tour, the group will also make a Sept. 14 appearance on the "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" show.
The Used is supporting its third album, "Lies for the Liars," which surfaced in May and debuted at No. 5 on The Billboard 200.
The set's second single, "Pretty Handsome Awkward," just dropped and is included on the soundtrack to the robot fantasy film "Transformers." It follows lead single "The Bird and the Worm," which reached No. 9 on Billboard's Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart.
