Amy Winehouse puts brakes on tour
British soul singer Amy Winehouse is off the tour trail until further notice as she addresses some "health issues."
"Amy will not now be performing at this weekend’s V Festival in Chelmsford and Staffordshire," a press released stated. "Her family has requested that the media respect Amy's privacy at this time. There will be no further comment."
British newspapers reported this week that Winehouse had checked herself into--and then out of--a rehab clinic near London. She has reportedly been dealing with alcohol and drug problems.
Last week, Winehouse was admitted to a London hospital for "severe exhaustion," according to various reports. Rumors of a suspected drug overdose swirled.
The singer's husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, admitted that his wife has "a few problems," according to ABC News. "Don't worry; she's being looked after," he added. "We're going back to this retreat. She's determined to get well."
Winehouse is scheduled to kick off a North American tour with fellow Brit Paolo Nutini next month. It is unclear whether those dates will be affected. The itinerary is listed below.
Following the North American jaunt, Winehouse is scheduled to tour Europe from mid-October to early December. Those dates can be found at her MySpace page.
Winehouse has been touring behind her sophomore album, "Back to Black," which was released in the UK last October. The set has earned her a Mercury Music Prize nomination and several nods at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Ironically, the singer's best-known hit from the record, "Rehab," is about her refusal to check into a treatment center.
