Steven Curtis Chapman tours behind 'This Moment'

Contemporary Christian singer Steven Curtis Chapman is gearing up to launch a US tour next month to support his forthcoming album, "This Moment."

After playing a Christian music festival Sept. 8 at Florida's Disney World, Chapman and his band, which includes his sons, will launch the trek Sept. 20 in Grand Rapids, MI. Christian rockers Sanctus Real and music prodigy Bethany Dillon will be special guests on the outing, which is scheduled to visit more than 30 churches, theaters and colleges all over the US, as well as the Billy Graham Festival in Tacoma, WA. Details are listed below.

Beginning today (8/14), a limited number of premium-seating tickets are available in most markets through Chapman's website.

The singer's 16th studio album, "This Moment," is set for an Oct. 23 release. It follows 2004's "All Things New," which reached No. 22 on The Billboard 200.

Speaking about the new record, Chapman said he struggled with the theme.

"I've got to be hearing clearly from God about what it is that he's giving me to share from this platform," the singer said in a bio on his website. "It doesn't have to be earth-shattering for everyone else, but it has to be for me."

"The words of Revelation 1:19--'write therefore the things that are seen'--kept coming back to me," he recalled. "It was as if God was saying, 'Just write what you know.'"

After having children, adopting three more, spending time working at Chinese orphanages and helping thousands of couples to bring home orphans from many countries, Chapman can honestly say he knows about family, global mindedness and worship--the themes of "This Moment."

The 14-song set is currently available in a pre-order deal that allows fans to stream the whole album immediately. Details are available at Chapman's website. A couple of cuts from the record are also streaming at the performer's MySpace page.

During Chapman's two decades in the music industry, he has won five Grammys and a record-breaking 51 Dove Awards.
