The Eagles [ tickets ] and Dixie Chicks [ tickets ] will be on hand this October to help Los Angeles' new Nokia Theatre L.A. Live open its doors in grand style.

The groups have been signed to co-headline the first concerts Oct. 18 and 20 at the 7,100-seat, state-of-the-art venue. The shows will be both bands' only US concert dates this year, according to a press release.

Tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster (LiveDaily's parent company) beginning next Monday (8/13), and will go on sale Aug. 14 at 10 a.m. PT at Los Angeles' Staples Center and Universal CityWalk's Team LA.

Grammy-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers the Eagles reportedly are putting the finishing touches on a new record that will be their first full-length studio set since 1979's "The Long Run." The forthcoming album, "Long Road Out of Eden," is due in October and the band expects to tour throughout 2008, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Dixie Chicks, who hold the title of biggest-selling female group in history, were practically banished by the country music establishment after singer Natalie Maines' disparaging remarks about President Bush during a 2003 concert. The trio made a major comeback with the 2006 release of "Taking the Long Way," which scored five Grammy Awards in February.

Nokia Theatre L.A. Live, located in downtown Los Angeles across the street from the Staples Center, expects to host more than 120 events annually, including music, dance, comedy and family shows. The facility is billed as an intimate venue, with no seat further than 210 feet from the stage.

Nokia Theatre is the heart of the 4-million-square-foot L.A. Live sports, residential and entertainment district. The complex will also house the 2,200-capacity Club Nokia concert venue.
