Sugarland rolls again as CMT tour headliners
The pair--Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush--will have already spent much of the year on a tour bus together when they set out to headline CMT on Tour 2007, with country quartet Little Big Town and singer/songwriter Jake Owen in tow. The outing kicks off Sept. 27 in Charlotte, SC, and is scheduled to hit 32 cities in all. Dates are shown below.
Previous years' incarnations of CMT on Tour have included Trace Adkins, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts, putting the Atlanta-based pair in pretty good company. Despite the exit of founding member Kristen Hall a year ago, Sugarland has kept going as a duo without missing a beat. In 2006, the group joined Kenny Chesney on his The Road and the Radio tour and opened for Brooks & Dunn.
Nettles and Bush co-wrote "Enjoy the Ride" and co-produced the album with revered Nashville producer Byron Gallimore (Tim McGraw, Faith Hill). Released last November, the band's sophomore set spawned the act's first and second No. 1 singles, "Want To" and the more recent "Settlin'."
"It was the first song we wrote for the record and interestingly enough it's also the first song on the album," Bush said in June during an ASCAP ceremony, at which the duo was presented with gold plaques for "Settlin'."
"So the way you experience it as a fan is the way we experienced it as writers, which is unique. It went very fast when we wrote it that day."
