Black Crowes book extended tour

Southern rockers The Black Crowes continue to add new US dates to their summer and fall tour schedule, which finds the band staying closer to home to put work in on a new album.

The group announced in May that its world tour plans were being indefinitely shelved so that the band could finish up its still-untitled new album, currently slated for an "early 2008" release, according to a posting on The Black Crowes' website.

The band, which has toured intermittently for most of 2007, will kick off a dedicated stretch of roadwork Aug. 3 in Bethlehem, PA. The outing will hit more than 45 cities through late October, and includes a few festival appearances, the bulk of which are headlining gigs. All dates are shown below.

The Crowes completed a major tour last fall, weathering the departure of two long-time members. Keyboardist Eddie Hawrysch, who had been a member since 1992, was "released from the band due to personal issues," according to a press release issued last August. Mere days later, guitarist Marc Ford--also a Black Crowe since 1992--quit the band via a fax, according to the group's website. The two departed members were replaced by guitarist Paul Stacey and keyboardist Rob Clores.

A dual CD/DVD entitled "Brothers of a Feather," featuring video shot during founding Crowes members Chris and Rich Robinson's series of acoustic performances last fall, was released in July. The DVD's material was culled from the pair's three-night run at The Roxy in Los Angeles.
