Briefly: Backstreet Boys, The Game, Uncle John Turner, Brand Nubian

The Backstreet Boys --now a quartet after group member Kevin Richardson's departure last year--are eyeing a late-October release for their next album, Billboard reports.

Scheduled for release Oct. 30, the as-yet-untitled set will include the leadoff single "Inconsolable," which Billboard describes as a "piano-heavy rock ballad. The song will reportedly hit radio stations Aug. 27.

The new album will follow the group's most recent release, 2005's "Never Gone."

The BBC's governing body has dismissed a complaint filed against the BBC for its July 2006 airing of an interview during which West Coast rapper The Game --real name Jayceon Taylor--made controversial comments during an appearance on "The Jo Whiley Show" on BBC Radio 1. Taylor reportedly called gay men "faggots" and "not real men."

"The Game's comments were very offensive, completely unacceptable and clearly homophobic," the BBC governors committee said in a statement announcing their decision, but added that they would not take any action against Whiley because she made a "sincere, full and swift apology" for Taylor's remarks.

Though the complaint was dismissed, the BBC has canceled all future interviews with Taylor.
