Hootie & The Blowfish tour further delayed
The outing, originally scheduled to start June 29, was first pushed back to July 21 and is now set to launch Aug. 10 in Hilton Head, SC. Shows in Roslyn, WA; Jacksonville, OR; Turlock, CA; and Ventura, CA have been canceled. Several other California dates, plus two in Arizona and one in New Mexico, have been rescheduled in September and October. The new itinerary is listed below.
Many of the shows are part of Hootie & the Blowfish 's "Homegrown Concert Series," during which supplies are collected for community schools. Details are available at the band's website.
Rucker suffered a staph infection in his left knee and has undergone three surgeries since, according to a press release. His post-operative rehabilitation has been prolonged to allow for a full recovery.
Hootie & The Blowfish continue to support their fifth studio album, 2005's "Looking for Lucky," which features the cut "Get Out of My Mind." The set was produced by Don Gehman, who also worked on the soft-rockers' debut album and most successful release to date, 1994's "Cracked Rear View."
The Grammy-winning band also put out a live album/DVD package last year titled "Live in Charleston: The Homegrown Concert Event." The set, recorded in Hootie's hometown of Charleston, SC, marks the first live album release for the group and its first live DVD in 11 years. Songs from the record are streaming at the group's website.
Meanwhile, Rucker is working on his first solo album--a country music set for Capitol Records Nashville--which is scheduled for a fall release.
