Sinead O'Connor preaches new 'Theology'
Sinead O'Connor continues her performing comeback with a headlining tour this fall as the Irish singer backs her latest album, the two-disc "Theology."
O'Connor, who ended her two-year "retirement" from the music industry in late 2005, will kick off the American portion of her tour calendar Sept. 16 in Los Angeles. The 15-city outing will stick mostly to major population centers, winding down to a late-October conclusion. The complete schedule is detailed below.
The singer is currently barnstorming Europe, a process that takes her through the rest of July and August before heading for these shores. Another European run will follow in November. O'Connor's full international schedule can be found at her website.
Released last month on Koch Records, "Theology" follows O'Connor's 2005 comeback album, "Throw Down Your Arms."
"'Theology' is an attempt to create a place of peace in a time of war," O'Connor said in a press release. "It is my own personal response to what has taken place and is affecting everyone around the world since and including September 11, 2001. I simply wanted to make a beautiful thing which inspires me."
The double album showcases eight new songs along with three covers (including Curtis Mayfield's "We People Who Are Darker Than Blue") in both acoustic form and--on the second disc--with O'Connor's full band accompanying her on the same set of songs.
