Briefly: Beyonce, KRS-One, Slash, Peter Criss
Two Beyonce fans who suffered minor burns after a pyro effect malfunctioned during the R&B singer's Sunday (7/8) concert in St. Louis reportedly received a personal visit from Beyonce at the hospital.
One of the victims--identified as 19-year-old Bailey Stiles of Springfield, MO--told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that Beyonce showed up at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital emergency room around 1 a.m. to make sure that Stiles and the second victim, identified as Chastity Rodgers of Belleville, were alright.
"She just kind of walked in," Stiles was quoted as saying. "Pretty much, I was like, 'Oh my God, I can't believe she's really here' ... I was just awestruck."
Beyonce reportedly spent about 45 minutes at the hospital and posed for a photograph.
Stiles and Rodgers were treated and released, according to the Post-Dispatch report, which said that the two were hurt when sparks from a pyrotechnics display landed on some concertgoers in the front rows.
Randy Hubbard-Parker, stepson of rap icon KRS-One , was found dead in his Atlanta apartment this past weekend after apparently committing suicide, according to published reports. A statement from Hubbard-Parker's mother, Simone G. Parker, KRS-One's wife, cites "'severe depression' as the motivating cause for Randy's sudden death."
A private memorial service will be held July 18 in Florida, which would have been Hubbard-Parker's 24th birthday, and plans are being made for a August memorial service in Hubbard Parker's hometown of New York.
Former Guns 'N' Roses/current Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash has cut a deal to provide an original track and appear as a character in the forthcoming Activision video game "Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock," according to a press release from the company. The game, which is slated for a fall release, will also feature music from The Rolling Stones , Beastie Boys , Muse and Pearl Jam.
Original KISS drummer Peter Criss --a.k.a. The Catman--has announced a July 24 release date for his forthcoming solo album, "One for All." He'll launch the set with a release-day appearance at the Virgin Megastore in New York City, according to a press release, which describes the album as "an autobiographical collection of songs" that features a mix of Criss originals and cover tunes "that reflect his outlook on life at this point in his long-standing career."
"The most important thing is that my fans and other people will get a whole new outlook on me with this CD," Criss said in a prepared statement. "I'm reinventing myself at my own pace, and for me, it's now, more than ever, about being true."
