T.I. and his alter-ego hit the road

Grammy-winning rapper T.I. has a new album on the streets and is set to kick off a co-headlining stint on the Scream Tour next month with Ciara.

T.I. will warm up with an MTV live taping July 19 at New York City's Hard Rock Cafe before heading out on the tour, which is dubbed Screamfest '07. The run launches Aug. 3 in New Orleans and travels from coast to coast, with a Sept. 1-2 finale in Universal City, CA. Details are listed below.

The Atlanta native, whose real name is Clifford Harris, released his fifth studio album, "T.I. vs TIP," today (7/3). The set combines the rapper's two alter egos--the laid-back T.I. and loose cannon Tip--and features guest artists including Eminem, Jay-Z, Andre 3000, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Ciara and Wyclef. The first single, "Big Things Poppin'," is currently making waves on rap, hip-hop and pop charts.

"T.I. vs TIP" follows last year's "King," which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and became the top-selling hip-hop album of 2006, according to a press release. The track "What You Know" scored a Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance, and T.I. took home a second trophy for "My Love," his collaboration with Timberlake.

Despite all of his success, T.I nearly threw in the towel recently following the death of his infant daughter and the murder of his best friend.

"After you bury your best friend, bury a child and others, this rap game seems so simple," the rapper recently told the Associated Press. "The more I deal with it, the more it shows that it can't stop me. So, it ain't nothing this game can do to me. I'm ready for anything."

That "anything" includes T.I.'s Grand Hustle record label, a clothing line and an acting career that got off the ground with his performance in the film "ATL." T.I.'s next role will be opposite Academy Award-winners Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe in the upcoming film "American Gangster," which is slated to hit theaters in November.
