Briefly: Rascal Flatts, Pink Floyd, Patti Scialfa, Frank Sinatra
Country sensations Rascal Flatts have settled on "Still Feels Good" as the title for their forthcoming album, and have delivered the set's first single to radio stations.
Due in stores Sept. 25, "Still Feels Good" will be Rascal Flatts' fifth album. The collection features the cut "Take Me There," which was written by Neil Thrasher, Wendell Mobley and Kenny Chesney, according to a press release. The cut hits the airwaves today (7/2). As previously reported, the group returns to the tour trail later this month.
MVD Visual has announced a Sept. 18 release for a deluxe-edition DVD version of "The Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett Story. The two-disc set will feature the original version of the film, plus two-and-a-half hours' worth of DVD extras, including lengthy, unedited interviews with all of the band's members, according to a press release.
The limited-edition run will be cut off at 5,000 copies--each of which will feature "Oyster Box packaging with 10 items of reproduction memorabilia in a special printed envelope," the release said. Subsequent copies of the set will be packaged in a standard plastic DVD box.
Patti Scialfa , wife of Bruce Springsteen, has nailed down a Sept. 4 release date for "Play It As It Lays," her third solo album, which follows 2004's "23rd Street Lullaby. Scialfa wrote and performed all 10 of the album's tracks, and co-produced the set with set with help from Ron Aniello and Steve Jordan, according to a press release. Springsteen contributed Hammond B3 organ, acoustic guitar, electric guitar and harmonica tracks to the set.
SIRIUS Satellite Radio has announced plans to launch a new program that will spotlight the music of the late Frank Sinatra . Dubbed "The Chairman's Hour," the program will be "hosted" by Sinatra himself "using rare material unearthed from the Sinatra family archives, according to a press release.
"The Chairman's Hour" debuts July 5at 5 p.m. ET on the Siriusly Sinatra channel, 75; a preview is set for July 4 at 5 p.m. ET, during which the program will feature a set of "Frank's patriotic songs," according to SIRIUS.
