Kenny Rogers fills 2007 calendar
Kenny Rogers is keeping a steady pace on the touring trail with a run of North American dates that will take him through the rest of the year.
The light-country icon, who has been touring since March, will continue his trek Saturday (6/30) in Chicago, and travel all over the US and into a couple of Canadian provinces through late December. The outing includes multiple dates in Myrtle Beach, SC; Lancaster, PA; Rama, Ontario; Saint Tite, Quebec; Atlantic City, NJ; and Uncasville, CT. Details are listed below.
Rogers continues to support last year's "Water & Bridges," which debuted at No. 14 on The Billboard 200 album chart, making it the singer's highest-charting record in more than 23 years. The set scored a Top 20 country hit with "I Can't Unlove You," and a Grammy nomination for the Rogers/Don Henley duet "Calling Me," which is streaming at Rogers' website.
Last year also saw the release of the "21 Number Ones" hits compilation and "The Journey" DVD, which comprises recent concert footage and a career-spanning video biography.
Rogers has been making music over a span of six decades, recruiting fans in the country and pop genres. The 68-year-old performer exploded in the mid-'70s with the tune "Lucille" and continued his winning streak into the '80s with hits including "The Gambler" and the biggest song of his career, "Lady," according to his bio.
As his chart success wound down later that decade, Rogers kept busy establishing himself as a respected photographer, publishing several books and appearing off-Broadway. The three-time Grammy winner also starred in the "Gambler" series of made-for-television movies, the last one of which aired in 1994. Rogers recently told the Chicago Sun Times that he is in talks with a network about possibly reviving the series.
