Chili Peppers, Others To Play Despite Threatened Lawsuit

Organizers who have lined up Red Hot Chili Peppers, Filter , Moby , Fuel , Our Lady Peace and Marcy Playground to play at the first Rolling Rock Town Fair in Latrobe, Pa., insist that the show will take place as planned, despite the threat of a lawsuit by a local resident.

The bands are scheduled to play the August 5 festival sponsored by the Latrobe Brewing Company, which makes Rolling Rock beer. But a local judge who owns 131 acres near the fairgrounds has filed notice that he intends to sue to stop the event, according to local press reports. He reportedly believes the anticipated crowd is too large for the rural area located about 40 miles east of Pittsburgh to handle.

"We have all the needed permits, the support of the local community and the concert will go on," Rolling Rock director of marketing Darrin Wolf said in a statement. Wolf claimed that no lawsuit had been filed as of Friday (5/26), and he added that the event is nearly sold out.

The festival, which reportedly will be telecast nationally on pay-per-view, is expected to attract 40,000 concert-goers.
