Briefly: KISS, Hinder, Angelique Kidjo, Drowning Pool
Veteran theatrical rockers KISS have announced an Aug. 14 release date for "KISSOLOGY 2: 1978-1992," its follow-up to last year's successful "KISSOLOGY 1: 1974-1977" DVD box set.
The forthcoming sequel will feature seven hours of footage spread across three DVDs; a bonus fourth DVD will be included with sets purchased through yet-to-be-named "exclusive distribution outlets," according to KISS's website. A complete tracklisting for "KISSOLOGY 2" is posted at the site.
Cable network TNT has tapped Hinder to perform live prior to the station's July 1st coverage of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race from Loudon, NH, according to a press release. Portions of the performance will air live on TNT during the "NASCAR on TNT Live!" pre-race show, and replay footage will be available at NASCAR.com.
Hinder's cover version of the rock classic "Born to Be Wild" serves as the anthem for TNT's promotional spots for its "2007 NASCAR on TNT Summer Series."
Angelique Kidjo has signed on to perform at the South African installment of the July 7 Live Earth concert, during which she and fellow singer Joss Stone will share the stage for a rendition of "Gimme Shelter," a cover of The Rolling Stones classic that the two recorded for Kidjo's latest album, "Djin Djin."
The "Gimme Shelter" single and recently shot music video will hit radio and video outlets "later this summer," according to a press release.
Meanwhile, Kidjo is scheduled to appear on the July 14 episode of "The CBS Saturday Early Show" and the Aug. 2 episode of "The Late Show with David Letterman."
As previously reported, Kidjo will spend much of the summer opening for Josh Groban.
Rockers Drowning Pool have teamed with non-profit organization Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) and 15-year-old YouTube video producer Lizzie Palmer to spearhead a campaign dubbed "This Is for the Soldiers." The initiative, which takes its name from a recent Drowning Pool song, aims to generate support for the Lane Evans Mental Health Care Reform bill, which "addresses the urgent need to get better mental health care for veterans," according to a press release.
More information about the campaign, along with a music video created by Palmer, is available at ThisIsForTheSoldiers.org.
