Elton John returns to the Red Piano

Elton John has announced the next run of dates for his Red Piano concert series in Las Vegas.

The superstar, who is currently touring Europe, will return to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace from Oct. 16 to Nov. 5. Last year, John signed an agreement to keep The Red Piano at The Colosseum through 2008. He's put in about 50 performances per year since 2004.

The Red Piano show was created by John and photographer David LaChapelle to spotlight the singer's body of work with his longtime collaborator, Bernie Taupin.

Last year, John and Taupin teamed once again for the album "The Captain & The Kid," which is billed as a sequel to 1975's "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy."

March saw the release of "Rocket Man - Number Ones," which comprises 18 hits covering the first 35 years of John's career. The album, which debuted at No. 9 on The Billboard 200, accompanied the Rocket Man's 60th birthday celebration, which he marked with a record-breaking 60th performance at New York City's Madison Square Garden.

The Grammy-winning performer also has his nose to the grindstone raising money for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which has taken in more than $125 million, according to a press release. Earlier this month, John accepted the National Association of Broadcasters' Education Foundation's Leadership Award for his efforts to fight HIV and AIDS.

John, who is also celebrating his 40th year of touring this year, recently landed at No. 7 on the Forbes Celebrity 100, which lists the world's most powerful and best-paid celebs.

"Between performances of his appropriately flamboyant Las Vegas show, 'The Red Piano,' Elton John grossed over $60 million in tickets for worldwide shows," Forbes said, adding, "Theatergoers still snap up tickets to hear his music in Aida, Billy Elliot and The Lion King."
